    1. Understanding the Impact of the Great Recession on Income Inequality

      Speaker -  Dr Cathal O’Donoghue, Head of the Rural Economy Research Centre, Teagasc.

      This presentation will use a tax benefit model developed for Ireland for the EU Survey on Income and Living Conditions to look at changes in inequality in  recent years. It will analyse how much is due to demographic change, labour market change, earnings inequality and other factors.

      As the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Rising approaches, the theme of this year’s MacGill will be: LOOKING TO 2016 – HOW STANDS THE REPUBLIC?  More than 50 contributors will focus on how the Irish Republic came into being, on its present state and on the need to reform its political and administrative institutions.
